Dialogue and Impact for Sustainable Textiles (DST)

Spools of white thread are neatly arranged on a textile manufacturing machine in a factory setting. The focus is on the spools, with blurred machinery and industrial equipment in the background. The scene suggests a production process in progress.

The Dialogue and Impact for Sustainable Textiles (DST) is a multi‑stakeholder network that brings committed international, European and local stakeholders even closer together to promote a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable textile and clothing industry. The focus is on practical exchanges, knowledge transfer, and the development of initiatives with the involvement of local actors.

Topics

ALDI joined the Dialogue and Impact for Sustainable Textiles (DST) – formerly the Partnership for Sustainable Textiles (Bündnis für nachhaltige Textilien) – in 2015. As part of our membership, we have been working towards better living wages and working conditions in production facilities used for ALDI SÜD Group goods. Conducting assessments and surveys with direct and indirect ALDI business partners regarding our purchasing practices has helped us continuously improve measures and processes. Additionally, we established a peer learning group with other brands to find solutions for challenges and share best practices.

Since 2023, we have also collaborated with the Closed Loop Pilot project with other members of the DST. The project aims to develop circular design guidelines for apparel products and to pilot and test a digital product passport.
