Food for Biodiversity (FfB)

Food for Biodiversity (FfB), is a European multi-stakeholder initiative established in 2021 that supports the integration of biodiversity criteria into food and agricultural supply chains. It brings together companies, non-governmental organisations, standard-setting bodies, and scientific institutions to facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange on biodiversity-related topics.

As a member of the industry initiative since 2024, we work together with cross-sector stakeholders to promote the inclusion of measures to enhance biodiversity in companies’ sourcing requirements and their implementation in supply chains with higher risks. The initiative’s catalogue of measures, the so-called Basic Set, was developed jointly with environmental organisations and covers various topics, such as water protection, habitat connectivity, and the responsible use of plant protection products and fertilisers. By integrating these measures into companies’ sourcing requirements, the aim is to reduce the negative impacts of agriculture on biodiversity and to create new habitats and food sources for species.

In 2026, together with other Food for Biodiversity members, we committed to implementing the Roll-out Strategy for the Basic Set for Temperate Regions. The strategy aims to include biodiversity measures in the sourcing requirements for high-risk raw material groups, such as fruit and vegetables.
