Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is a global non-profit organisation working to end overfishing by promoting environmentally sustainable fishing practices through its certification and ecolabelling programme. To achieve MSC certification, fishing operations are assessed against a set of science-based environmental criteria, set out in the MSC Fisheries Standard, and regularly audited by independent third-party certification bodies. This means that seafood products carrying the blue MSC ecolabel come from fishing activities that are well-managed, reduce impacts on the marine ecosystem, and help preserve fish stocks for future generations.
