The ALDI SÜD Group has joined the Low Carbon Fertilizer Alliance (LCFA), a major multistakeholder initiative that aims to foster a simplified and collaborative approach to decarbonising fertiliser manufacturing.

With approximately 1.20 gigatonnes CO2e emitted from fertiliser manufacturing each year, fertiliser production and use are significant sources of on-farm greenhouse gas emissions in most crop systems.

Through our participation in the LCFA, we aim to collaborate with retailers, food producers, farmers, and other industry partners to support the development and adoption of lower-carbon fertiliser solutions.

Through a collective approach that leverages the purchasing power of multiple organisations, the LCFA aims to support fertiliser decarbonisation across agricultural supply chains at a global scale.

This engagement complements our current agricultural emissions reduction initiatives and broader approach to regenerative agriculture, which focuses on supporting farming practices that can improve soil health, strengthen farm resilience, and contribute to emissions reductions.
