ALDI SÜD GROUP
since 2021
PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) is an international non-profit organisation that endorses national forest certification systems and provides certification standards for responsible forest management and forest-based supply chains. Through independent third-party certification, PEFC verifies that certified forests and forest-based materials are managed and sourced in accordance with defined environmental, social, and economic requirements. These requirements cover areas such as biodiversity, forest health, workers' rights, and engagement with local communities.
In addition to Forest Management certification, PEFC provides Chain of Custody certification, which enables companies to trace certified wood- and fibre-based materials through the supply chain, from the forest to the final product. Independent certification bodies assess forests and businesses against PEFC's standards.
Since 2021, the ALDI SÜD Group applies PEFC certification standards to wood- and paper-based products and packaging. Currently, 100% of wood-based products and packaging in the own-brand core range are either made from recycled materials or certified in accordance with the requirements of PEFC or an equivalent certification scheme.
