The programme, launched in October 2026, will bring together around 1,000 beef farmers across the UK and provide practical support, technical expertise, and financial incentives for implementing on-farm actions that target improvements in areas including soil health, biodiversity, and animal welfare.
Participating farmers, the first group of which is expected to be onboarded by spring 2027, will receive premium farm payments in addition to standard market prices, alongside access to specialist agricultural advice and opportunities to share knowledge with peers. The initiative is designed to help farmers navigate the challenges of a changing agricultural landscape while supporting the long-term resilience of British beef production.
Grounded in Goodness also envisages the creation of a small group of Horizon Farmers, which includes farmers who are already trialling progressive farming approaches. This group will work closely with ALDI and ABP to pilot new practices and share learnings across the wider network. Their involvement ensures the scheme remains practical, farmer-focused, and scalable, while also aligned with the ALDI SÜD Group’s Force for Good sustainability strategy.
